Here is a summary of our services and activites during Holy week and Easter. All are welcome to these events which take place in St Barnabas church unless otherwise stated.
Our Lent Courses continue through until Wednesday 1st April.
Palm Sunday - 29th March
- 9:30am Service of Holy Communion. This Sunday we begin our service in the Church Hall and process into church
- 11:15am our regular Family Communion service.
Tuesday - 31st March
- 7:00pm Stations of the Cross. We follow the journey to the cross using readings, reflections and walking the stations of the cross images displayed around church (painted by the nuns at Turvey Abbey).
Wednesday - 1st April
- 7:00pm Evening prayers for Wednesday in Holy Week. 30 minutes of quiet prayer to close the day.
Maundy Thursday - 2nd April
- 6:00pm Maundy Thursday meal. As we recollect Jesus' last supper with his disciples, so we sit and eat together on this Holy evening.
- 7:00pm Service of Holy Communion with foot-washing. The service ends with the stripping of the altar.
- 9:00pm Maundy Thursday Vigil. As we remember Jesus praying in the garden of Gathsemane, so we keep watch into the night.
Good Friday - 3rd April
- 10:30am Good Friday Worship and Walk. Organised by Churches Together in Caversham, starting at the Baptist church we worship and then walk to Caversham Court.
- 2:00pm An Hour at the Cross. A service of readings, hymns and reflection.
Easter Sunday - 5th April
- 5:30am Dawn service of vigil, Easter fire, baptism and Holy Communion. Our first celebration of Easter, held as the sun rises.
- 10:00am Easter celebration of Holy Communion. All our congregations gather to worship together on this special day. We end the service with an Easter Egg Hunt!
