Regular Activities

As well as worship, we’re open for weekday activities too. Most sessions you can simply turn up on the day and join in. Where you need to book, you’re still welcome to pop-in and talk to us about joining our next session.  Nearly all these activities meet in the Parish Centre.

Bible Study Group

We meet for an hour or so, on alternate Monday evenings at 7pm in the Parish Centre.  A friendly group which explores a different bible text each meeting.  The topics vary, you are welcome to just turn up.  Check the calendar What’s On page.

Young Adults Discipleship

A group of young adults (in the 18-30 age range) meet on alternate Mondays, 7pm in the Parish Centre, where we explore life and the Christian faith.

Craft circle

Every Tuesday morning 9.30am until 11am. It’s a social event where people can meet, chat, and get advice on knitting or crochet problems. But more than that, it’s a place to make friends and have a laugh over a cup of coffee.  It’s a community event, open to anyone: many of us don’t attend services at St Barnabas, they heard about the group and just wanted to join its friendly atmosphere.  We also have a summer and Christmas “end of term” lunches, and we only close if Tuesday falls on a significant calendar date (like Christmas Day!).

Breakfast group

We hold a men’s breakfast on the first Wednesday in each month, at a local café.

Toddler Thursdays

From 8:45am until 10am, term time, in the parish centre.  Open after the school run,

Bereavement and Loss support

We have two groups that offer support to anyone who has suffered loss and bereavement.

  • Bereavement Café takes place on the 1st Friday of each month, 2.00 –3.30 pm, in the Parish Centre. This is for anyone who has been bereaved, either recently or some time ago, to meet together for an informal chat and mutual support.  You are very welcome to drop in.
  • Living with Loss takes place on the 3rd Friday of each month, 2.00 – 3.30 pm, in the Parish Centre.  This is a monthly group that provides the opportunity for anyone affected by any kind of loss to find support from others who understand from their own experience how overwhelming feelings of loss can be. You will receive a very warm welcome.

Friday friendship

This takes place on the second and fourth Fridays of every month 2-4pm.  A fun, informal afternoon of board games and quizzes, with tea and cake.

Gardening group

This group meets during the week, to tidy the church grounds once a month. There is a job for everyone, regardless of your gardening experience or physical fitness.

Environment Group

We meet to encourage Care for Creation at St Barnabas. We run the Recycling table, we are developing our nature space, encourage developments to reduce our carbon footprint and encourage ethical living.  St Barnabas holds an Eco Church Silver award.
